Cute Kinder holiday cards!

We made some super cute holiday cards in Kindergarten this week. We learned about printmaking and made some wonderful prints using styrofoam. I love these little cards!

First Grade Poinsettas

In First Grade we are studying Mexico, so we learned about a flower that comes from Mexico, the Poinsettia. We read the book, The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie DePaola. They turned out wonderful!

Inuit Snow Goggles

Because we are studying the Inuit People in third grade, we made some amazing snow goggles based off of the ones they would use to shield their eyes from the reflections on the snow. We added fur and other great details. This project was so fun!

Art Advocacy Night 2010

We had our Beverley Taylor Sorenson Art Advocacy Night on Wednesday. It was such a fun night and it was great to have such wonderful support from our community. We did a few performances and ate some cookies and celebrated the opportunity our school has to participate in the arts. Many thanks to all those who participated and attended. What a great night!

Fifth grade colonial silhouettes

These turned out so great this year. This is one of my favorite projects. We learned about colonial time and the silhouette art they made to do portraits of people. We made our own modern silhouettes. Check them out!

Fourth grade coil pots

We have been doing a ton of clay projects here at summit. Here are some coil pots we made and painted in Fourth Grade this month.

Storytelling sculptures

We learned about Hopi artist Helen Cordero and her wonderful storyteller sculptures in third grade. We then created our own sculptures that told a story.

First grade paper sculptures

We talked about sculptures in First grade and made our own paper sculptures. We had such a great time doing this we didn't want to stop!
