Our fourth grade students created amazing watercolor paintings of a soil profile, as they are learning about soil profiles in science. These turned out fantastic!
Our third grade students learned how to draw hippos. They did a fantastic job! Hippos live in rivers such as the Nile, and we have been learning about different rivers in our social studies classes. Great job third grade!
For the Egyptian unit that our sixth grade just learned about, we did some fun Egyptian portraits on gold scratch board. Come see the bulletin board in the art room!
Our Fourth grade students have been learning about the different environmental regions of Utah. We learned about the Great Basin collared lizard and painted it in its natural environment. Great job fourth grade!
In Fourth grade last week we studied a painting by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch called The Scream. We had a great time making our own versions of the scream!
We are learning about heat and light in third grade, so we talked about warm and cool colors and the contrast they create. Then we made a contrasting picture using warm and cool colors. This lesson is from artprojectsforkids.org
For our back to school self-portraits, we looked at the artist Amedeo Modigliani's work. We did our self portraits in the style of Modigliani, with elongated necks and features. We used oil pastels.

We had our Second annual Gallery Stroll on Thursday night! It was a great night and the student performances were great! We had about 719 people show up, as well as the art truck from Project 337. Great job Summit Students!

Gallery Stroll! Come to our elementary gym on Thursday, May 26th from 6-8 pm to see our awesome artwork on display! We will also be having our second, third, kindergarten and fifth grades perform some great musical numbers and a visit from the art truck from here. Come support the arts at Summit!
We are learning about China in third grade so we learned about Chinese Willow Pattern Plates. We talked about tints and shades and practiced mixing colors. Our third grade students did a great job!
Our Second grade students learned about artist Wayne Theibaud and his sweet pictures. We made our own cupcake pictures with real cupcakes to observe. They are so colorfu!
Here are some awesome Alien school pictures we made in first grade. We are studying the solar system. The idea is based off of Art with Mr. E's great art blog. These turned out so cute!
Kindergarten is learning about Africa. We talked about the different animals that live in Africa and then they made these cute giraffes. I love kindergarten art!
Our fifth graders just finished learning about the Civil War and all the events that surrounded it, so we looked at pictures of locomotives and drew them in charcoal.
